GTB Offers Virtual Symposium on Diversity in Advertising

DETROIT, Mich., March 17, 2021 — GTB, a global performance marketing agency, is conducting a live, virtual event on March 19, entitled Ads Need Soul — a symposium that brings academics, creatives, and industry voices together to address the past, present, and future of advertising.

The three-part event, which is also open to the public, will feature opening remarks from Robert Guay, Global Chief Executive Officer at GTB, and span both lecture-style presentations from university professors as well as a lively Q&A discussion with agency creatives. The program agenda includes the following:

Session 1: “Possibility in the Ad Industry.” Panelists: Professor Lynita Taylor, MBA, Diversity & Inclusion Program Manager at the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University; and Professor Teresa Mastin, PhD, and Chairperson in the Department of Advertising & Public Relations at Michigan State University.

Session 2: “Past, Present, & Future of the Color Line in Advertising.” Panelists: Professor Jason P. Chambers, PhD, Associate Department Head, Charles Sandage Department of Advertising at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and Professor Christopher Boulton, PhD, Associate Professor of Communications at University of Tampa.

Session 3: “Black & Creative: Pushing for Progress.” Panelists: Walter T. Geer III, ECD Design at VMLY&R; Deadra Rahaman, VP Brand Strategy at Huge Advertising; and Mychael Metcalf, Creative Director at VMLY&R.

This program is part of GTB’s ongoing series entitled GTB Talks and will kick off on Friday, March 19th at 9:30AM EST.
